Day 6 Spaghetti 'Ball'ognese

The activity set for us to draw structures that could up three separate balls was quite confusing. Because it was a vague design brief we had to do what and as much as we can in quite a lot of time we were given. We then found out we had to make these designs in to a physical thing using spaghetti sticks and hot glue guns. At first, I thought I could keep using a bundle of blue tac and hope for the best but if anything it made it worse and unable to keep the sticks rigid and in place. So, I then resorted to using the glue guns which were not only fun to use but kept my structure in place excellently!
It was only till when we were presenting our work that apparently the balls weren't meant to lean against each other and had to be held up separately which was a bit annoying seeing as that's exactly what mine did. Even so, I felt that the collection of diagonal lines keeping the balls up were successful similarly to a camping stool structure.
Our last task was to create a a paper shelter in which our stick structures could be kept safely under from an object being dropped on it. Although, like mine, most of everyone's shelters covered their stick structures, only one actually survived the heavy weight of a basketball.

Day 5 Bridge making

These series of tasks were a lot more easier. The individual one in which to create our own bridge like structures with pieces of paper was simple enough. The group activity, in which to create a cardboard bridge from one table to another  with enough space for a 'boat' (or other table) to sale it's way under, was good due to everybody pitching in with ideas and helping hands. At first we were just going to use tape to hold everything together until we were shown the wonderful things that elastic bands can do! Their flexibility meant that a lot of weight wouldn't be able to simply tear down what it was trying to keep together, which was the flaw in our plan to use tape. In the end, the bridge was successful. It was able to hold a remote control car going over it and our mario kart road design was also quite fun and for visual presentation.
Sketching a plan of some sort, as a group, may have been a good idea to get straight to work with the right materials rather than having to start all over again halfway through the time we had.

Day 4 Bottle Holders and Chairs

I got on well with the first few tasks at the start which was to create a design out of a simple series of lines, scribbles or doodles on a page. It was fun because I ended up creating a floor plan from a few dots scattered on a page, a lamp out of a dress and even a bus stop out of my house number.
The main tasks later in the day were more challenging. We had to create something that could hold the weight of  a bottle. At first I thought this was for us to hold a container with the bottle in and see if it was strong enough but it was really meant to be like some sort of platform. This ended up with me scrambling something together in the time we had left.

The next task was to make some sort of structure, that could hold up our own weight, from four pieces of A2 cardboard. For me, it then ended up being a challenge to make something that wasn't going to work, work. By the end of the time we had, all the cardboard was so battered and bent it was impossible for it to be strong and rigid enough to hold any weight. It wasn't very successful but I now know if I was going to do a similar task in the future, to not do everything I did in this task.
Planning should've been taken out more thoroughly and I would have then avoided trying to force something to work and therefore destroying it in the process.

Day 3 Timeline

I got on well with the task but not as much as I hoped to and had in mind.
I found it wasn't very successful. I was happy with the little sketches I did as cute illustrations but it looked untidy and unfinished.
In this case the planning was the problem. I spent so mych planning that gis stole time and left tge real work as a bundle of cut up circles with pencil sketches on them and still not even finished yet.
Next time I'll keep in mind to do a quick light plan before just giving straight into it.

Day 2 Trip to the V&A

The tasks I made for myself were to simply record things I found in the museum that I found were important and inspiring whether it was the objects/pictures/sculptures themselves or even people looking and enjoying the exhibits.
By the wnd of the day, a sketchbook full of scribbles and sketches, I found definitely showed I had achieved my aims, as I had stuff to work with for future challenges.
I was happy with the quick recordings that captured enough for what I could possibly use in the future.
I could possibly do even better if I took my time and not rely on a group of quickly moving friends to go round the museums with, as I would've enjoyed some time to just stop and draw more.

Hiding the Time Capsule

I achieved hiding away the time capsule in a secret place I know I'll come back to in 10 years time.

I felt excited to hide it away till the future where either me or a family member is likely to come across it.
