Day 10 Drawing From Photo

Crushed
Fall
Jump
Happy
Echo
Sad (the poor hairy guy getting stepped on)

Today's activity in drawing from a photo and covering parts of it I felt really achieved the aims of analysing perspective. The image I took is a scene from my regular routine of waiting for the train to go to college. I find it particularly meaningful due to the fact I always found it quite an alien idea to have to travel so far to get to school due to living right round the corner from both my primary and secondary schools. Now, even if I catch the train to go somewhere completely different I will feel like I should be taking the same procedures to travel up to college. I like how this scene gave me a lot to work with in the lesson as I could target a handful of features in the photo to change the perspective of it. For example, the woman's face turned towards the camera with her phone to her ear almost looks like she needs to get to the person on the other line to speak to them face to face and is notifying them that they're on their way. The image of the woman closest to the train, as it pulls in to the station, looks like she is the most eager to get on it and get on with her journey. The woman checking her phone looks as if her attention is solely on contacting someone whilst they wait and takes a lot less notice in getting on he train than the other woman, on her phone, does. Finally the image of the bag looks almost like we're looking through the eyes of a thief who aims to steal it. Therefore, the amount of things I could work with in my image i felt proved the main activity of the day to be very successful.
As well as this, we were then asked to take a collection of photos which would portray a number of words. Happy, sad, echo, jump, fall and crushed. This gave us a chance to go around and look at different objects, landscapes and people to push our words forward but in a not so obvious way. I felt that the photo for 'crushed' was a bit too obvious but found it quite hard to get something together and was also rather excited by the number of squashing tables in the corner. However I was quite satisfied with the subtlety in the photo for 'happy'. At the sight of the rainbow on the floor it was the first feeling and thought that that came in to my head. 'Echo' I was also quite happy with seeing as you can imagine the subject letting out an almighty yell in that wide open space.
All in all, I felt that the aims of the day to manipulate and create perspective with the use of visual imagery was successfully achieved.
